MEET THE MAKEUP ARTIST

“I believe that all women are pretty without makeup, but the right makeup can be pretty powerful.” – Bobbi Brown

Hello. My name is Raelyn and I am a professional makeup artist. My journey into the makeup  industry began in April 2008 when I enrolled in Advanced Makeup Artistry at what as then known as Richards Beauty CollegeWhile I was attending Richards, Regina Summer Stage was looking for Makeup Artists to assist with their production of 'Disney's Beauty and the Beast.' Being the Disney fan I am, I was over the moon excited for this opportunity. I applied makeup for the lead character 'The Beast' (played by Gaetan Hammond) for the full production run, as well occasionally other cast members including Lumiere, Gaston, and various towns folk.

After graduating from Richards, I dived right into the industry booking appointments for brides and graduates. My journey with theatrical makeup didn't end that Summer. Starting Autumn 2008 I started working with Regina Little Theatre, as well I did more musicals with Regina Summer Stage.

I wanted to advance my skills as a Makeup Artist, so in June 2011 I moved to Toronto, Ontario & I took the Comprehensive Makeup Artist course at the world's leading incubation centre for makeup artistry, Complections College of Makeup Art & Design. I was taught by some of the most talented, successful and award-winning Makeup Artists in Canada and I really took to the Theatre & Wig Knotting courses.

Upon graduating from Complections, I made the decision to move back home to Saskatchewan and with my new found knowledge and skills, I went on to teach Theatrical Makeup Workshops for Theatre Saskatchewan, styled hair & applied makeup for First for Women magazine, and I was a Makeup Artist for the HGTV show, Urban Suburban.

  • What does it really mean to be called a professional Makeup Artist?
Many brands (people) just throw the word 'professional' around because it sounds salesy, however, being called a professional actually means someone is qualified to offer a particular service due to their education in the unregulated beauty industry. I am a two time Certified Makeup Artist and offer makeup services in Saskatchewan. I have multiple diplomas in Makeup Artistry and available when needed. Baby showers, wedding ceremonies, graduations and birthday celebrations are important events in different times of our lives. I want to make you feel special, gorgeous and elegant on these days as they are going to be moments and photos to be remembered forever!
  • What is your business all about?
My brand is dedicated to improving how people feel about their appearance, portraying an outstanding look and bringing out their inner beauty. I specialize in natural glam makeup looks. I love seeing my clients smile while they look at themselves in the mirror. An important aspect I am most skilled at is making my clients look and feel their best on the most special days, which is an investment all in itself!
  • What services do you offer?
I offer beauty makeup services bridal and weddings, graduations, baby showers, birthdays, fashion, editorial and photography. Character makeup for theatrical productions, halloween, special effects and cosplay. Brow grooming services are also available.
  • Where are you located? Is there a travel fee?
I have owned my small business which is based in Regina, SK since August 2008. I travel around the province for beauty and bridal makeup and theatrical productions, and offer eyebrow grooming (Regina only.) Travel fees apply to all appointments Travel fee • $0.72/KM roundtrip to all appointments booked. Parking fees when applicable.
